Sundays

We meet each Sunday at 10.30am at Burnside College, and we would love you to join us!

We typically start with some singing and prayers, and a family talk before the children leave for their own group time (except for All-age services – see below). We then read part of the Bible together and one of our preaching team helps us understand it before we finish with more singing.

Recently our Bible teaching has been following through the book of Exodus, thinking about how God cared for the Israelites and what we can learn from their experiences. Over the summer we’ll be reading some of the Psalms and hearing what they have to teach us about God, and about ourselves.

All the hymns, prayers, etc appear on the screen so the service is easy to follow along with; there are also printed service booklets for those who are more comfortable not looking at a screen (or who have a tall person standing in front of them!) These can be found on some of the seats and a large print version can be collected from the information table on your way in.

If you would like to read along with the Bible readings, there are Bibles available to borrow or you are welcome to bring your own. We use the New International Version (NIV 2011) but you are welcome to bring any version you are comfortable reading.

Holy Communion

At least once a month we have a service of Holy Communion. These services take a similar format to our usual Sunday morning meetings, but with Communion taking place just before or after the Bible teaching. If the children have already gone out to their groups they will return to be with the rest of the church family as we take Communion, and the minister will pray for them.

During the Communion service we remain in our seats and stewards bring round individual cups and bread plates. If you prefer not to participate for any reason you are welcome to pass these to the next person in your row. We use gluten-free bread and non-alcoholic drink for our Communion services, but please feel free to ask if you have dietary concerns.

All-age services

At our occasional all-age services, the children stay with us throughout and all parts of the service are presented in a way that children can engage with and enjoy.

After the service

Refreshments (hot and cold drinks and biscuits or cakes) are served after all our services, so that we can chat and get to know one another better. If you can, please bring your own mug, to cut down on the use of disposable cups!
